The UV tubes used are new generation T5 Ultra Slimline tubes which emit a more intense light that the larger, older type T12 and T8 tubes.
The EcoMaster works by attracting insects by Ultra Violet light. The insects touch a high voltage steel grid located in front of the light source; it kills them instantly and the dead insect falls into the removeable catch tray located in the base of the unit.
The T5 is a very efficient fluorescent tube, providing excellent quality light with a lifespan of over 20,000 hours. This is at least double the lifespan of conventional T12 and T8 tubes.
T5 tubes provide a considerable energy saving, are environmentally friendly, and contain 38% less glass.There is also only a minimal amount of mercury compared to the old tubes.
With a power saving of 30% - 60%, the ECOMASTER is great for your pocket and the environment, as it uses less energy for a similar output as the T8 tubes.
The electronic ballast used requires no starter, uses less energy than a conventional ballast, and generates practically no heat, making the unit virtually maintenance free.
